At Western Theological Seminary, we are committed to both academic excellence and your spiritual formation.
God is and has been forming you, and our calling is to participate in God’s work in your life.
We recognize that knowledge of God and knowledge of self are interconnected. That is why our curricular and co-curricular offerings invite students to come to know themselves more fully as they grow in their understanding of the triune God of grace.
As faculty and staff, we’re eager to walk alongside students as they grow intellectually, seek vocational clarity, explore how to live fully-integrated lives before God for the sake of the world, and as they are transformed more and more into Christlikeness by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.
Learning to Lead in Worship
Coming together in knowledge, faith, and community.
Worship is an important part of spiritual formation and an important part of community life at WTS.
Four times a week, students and faculty gather for a time of worship and sharing. Students plan and lead chapel services as part of their training for future ministry calls. Learn more about worship at WTS by clicking below.
The Abbey
The Abbey provides a place for students to integrate what they are learning in the classroom into their own lives of faith as they engage in intentional reflection, spiritual practices, and vocational discernment together.
Students are prayerfully placed into smaller groups, facilitated by faculty members, that meet regularly (either in person or by Zoom) throughout students’ first three years.
Students in the Abbey also come together for on-site retreats at Western each fall and spring semester.
These formative components of the curriculum are designed to build community, foster prayer, and encourage the cultivation of rhythms that can sustain a life of ministry and service.
